Flood Risk in KatandraWest
Katandra West Township does not have any water ways that run through it, though Congupna Creek and Guilfus Creek may threaten surrounding farm land 2km West of the Township. History shows that Riverine Floods do not impact the Township of Katandra West.
The Congupna Creek and Guilfus Creek are prone to flood if there has been heavy rail falls on the Dookie Hills effecting the same area 2km West of the Township.
Katandra West is susceptible to flash flooding caused by significant Rain fall in a short space of time causing road closures and isolation. Rain over 75mm over 24 hours is likely to overwhelm the drainage network causing Flash Flooding.
No houses in the township are known to flood in past events however 2 houses off Labuan Road have flooded in the past.
It can take from weeks to months for all flood water to dissipate around Katandra West and several days to disperse off local roads.
